To advertise is to make actions that may be disadvantageous in the moment but serve to give the opponent a false impression about the advertising player's style, thereby luring him into making mistakes in the future. This could mean that a player shows his cards after one or more bluffs, or lets himself be "caught" bluffing, so that his opponents think that he bluffs often, allowing him to cash in on good hands later
Advertisement can also mean to give the impression that one is a solid and formidable player, allowing the advertising player to bluff more often.
