A way ahead / way behind, or wa/wb situation arises when you have a strong made hand that can hardly improve against an opponent who has either a better hand or a much worse one, which has little chance of becoming the best. You've either already beaten your opponent and he has little chance of still improving his hand, or you've beaten yourself and have little chance of improving your hand. You're either way ahead or way behind.
